Good game GameGuard

Postby Dandune » 2011-04-01 21:54:38+00:00

Here we go, another topic by me lol.

Whole day I have been having problems with GG and couldn't get in game.
Usual error is 114. Tried all the usual procedures, reinstalled twice, even went as far as to trying to run the game without FW and AV.
Nothing works.

OS: Vista 32bit
FW: Windows Firewall
AV: avast
Windows Defender ON

It all started after I updated avast client today. I could still log in early in the morning but after avast update it was no-go in the afternoon.

Sidenote, almost impossible to get on any L2 related NCsoft site today, be it main site or support.

If anyone's got any ideas, please post shamelessly, thank you. :)

GameGuard Error 114
Question
I am receiving GameGuard Error 114.

Answer
Quote:
Most of the issues that we have seen attributed to this error message have been due to a firewall. If you are receiving this error message, we suggest trying the following steps.

First, try disabling any and all firewalls that you have running on your machine to see if this alleviates the issue.

If it does not, you'll need to adjust your firewall exceptions to allow exceptions for these files: LineageII.exe, L2.exe, GameGuard.Des and GameMon. Des. Specific instructions for this can typically be found on the respective manufacturers' websites. The process will vary by manufacturer. The default locations for each file are as follows:

"C:\Program Files\Lineage II\LineageII.exe"
"C:\Program Files\Lineage II\system\l2.exe"
"C:\Program Files\Lineage II\system\GameGuard.des"
"C:\Program Files\Lineage II\system\GameGuard\GameMon.des"

If you are still receiving this error message after trying these steps, you should make sure that you have no third party applications attached to the Lineage II program.

You tried this already?

Thats right, just add all these shit to you firewall/antivirus exclusions. Should be fine.

Also ofc u can create more detailed rules, as for example l2.exe doesnt need full access to internet, only to game servers, and so on. But exclusions solve any problems at once.

And just a question - why u keep this windows defender enabled while u have an antivirus and firewall already?

No idea why I keep defender active, but it never did any harm.

As for those exclusions, tried that too.

Will try some various things I still have on my mind... also no idea how to reroll avast... no option in client and no idea how to get previous(2 days ago) version of program.

Thank you all for help so far.

Im using avast 100% up to date so i dont think its Avasts problem :)
Im using win 7 32 bit with avast and router as firewall.

Just solved the problem with the easiest possible sollution... I simply installed free nProtect's (GameGuard owner) AV/FW software.
From now on, if by any chance I get GG error, NCsoft has outdated GG and can go F*** themselves. :D
